Give an account of the interior and exterior of the old building.
The house was an isolated one outside the city. Most of the old buildings were shrouded by haze and mystery. Very few inhabitants lived there. Most of the inmates had deserted the house and gone elsewhere. A lone watchman kept guard of the house. The ceiling had black and brown mould in clusters which indicated that rain had seeped through the roof. Some rooms were small with pitched ceilings, ancient adornments and a basement by the side of a river. It was far away from the nearest town. From outside it was frightening. There were forlorn trails wolves streaking past like shooting stars. Little rivulets appeared from nowhere and flowed down the terrain and hilly grass.
There were tall trees on the hilltops with birds and owls nestling there. The house, in the moonlight showed the vines forming a twisted labyrinth around the side of the house with their tentacles reaching the roof. The walls of the house showed the black decay of neglect. Splotches of paint told that the house was once luxuriously maintained. Cobwebs and spiders had made their homes in the dark house.
What made Breeze come back to the old building?
Dr. Bina Biswas a fiction writer, editor and multilinguistic, is a professor of English Communications and Language. She had beautifully given voice to Breeze and made it express itself. Breeze lived outside the bungalow but life had become miserable for her because of the polluted atmosphere.
The air outside was poisonous because of the factories and industries. People had left the place and gone. Trees were cut down and stormy winds blew all over. Poor breeze had no place for shelter. So it decided to come to the old building and meet her friends. She hoped to find a more comfortable place in this bungalow as it was a place she had been staying earlier.
'Breeze knew now that she had to be everywhere'. Explain
Breeze had seen the outside world and the inside of the deserted house. She could not find a suitable place for herself. She returned to her hut by the side of a river where ducks swam in the still, where the village sank under the rain clouds and trees let their shade on the pavement. The shadows were twisted and bent as if chopped and broken. Seeing all this, she realized she should be every where and not confined to one place. The author tries to convey that there in no place on this polluted earth for gentle folks. Such folks need to be everywhere to spread the message of revitalizing the earth with their presence as the Breeze who realized her importance.
