Do you think Learning English can gradually affect one's use of Mother Tongue? 

        Mostly Yes, learning English can affect one's use of mother tongue language. Because as much as we learned the second language, which is English. It decreases the interest of one's mother tongue language. Nowadays, the young generation wants to learn any things in English more often rather than their mother tongue language. This situation has started earlier in our lives, from school onwards, all the teachers wants that student must learn English. Do conversation in English only, no other languages are allowed to talk with teacher, either its normal conversation between teacher and student or only for asking about doubts. that does not mean that we shouldn't learn English earlier age, but not giving much more importance to the mother tongue language can affect the language in future prospects. 

    The role of mother tongue language in second language learning has been the subject of much debate and controversy. Most teachers feel that the use of mother tongue language should be minimized and they feel guilty if they use it a lot. When challenged they find it difficult to say why. 

The influence of mother tongue language is proved both positive and negative in teaching and learning of English. A learner's language one (mother tongue language) is an important determinant of Second Language Acquisition. The first language (mother tongue language) is a resource which learners use both consciously and subconsciously to help them arrange and re-arrange the second language data in the input and to perform as best as they can. The cultural features connected with first language (mother tongue language) use can be put to good effect when teaching second language i.e. English. Second language acquisition is a developmental process; first language (mother tongue language) can be a contributing factor to it. One who are excellent in speaking or writing English language should also be as excellent in their own mother tongue language.

They should also give the importance to both the languages. Some people do not give much more importance to their mother tongue language because they did not find any fancy when they speak in their language but in the case of English language, it is opposite, they found the fancy way to speak in English language. some peoples are very fluent in speaking English language but some other people’s mix the English language to their mother tongue language when they are speaking to someone in their mother tongue language. They use the English words in between their first language's word to speak in a flowing manner. Sometimes it shows that those who have perfect knowledge and has a great speed of writing in English language. 

Basically, they do not match up the speed in writing in their own mother tongue language. Somehow mostly people make mistake or become more confusing in-between learning English language and giving more importance to their first language which is their own mother tongue language. But some other people gave more importance to their mother tongue language because they use English language as a normal language not as it was a higher language, they gave respect and treat to all the languages.
